1280388530 Vessel Sink Faucets | Vessel Faucets | Plumbing Point

Vessel sinks are one of the most popular choices for consumers looking to add a modern and artistic focal piece to their bathroom. created by changing the standard placement of the sink from a sunken position to a raised one, vessel sinks make an impressive visual statement while also remaining functional. because of the raised designs of vessel sinks, standard bathroom faucets designed to be set into a sink no longer work. in order to meet the need for a revised faucet design that not only worked with the vessel sink design, but also complemented it visually, a specialty line of vessel sink faucets was developed.

What is a Vessel Sink Faucet?

In a classic bathroom setup, the sink is set into the counter top and the faucet mechanism is attached to the back lip of the sink itself. Since most vessel sinks are bowl shaped, a traditional faucet design would have no place to be mounted into. in order to accommodate the revised design of the sink itself, vessel faucets were re-engineered to be mounted on other surfaces, completely separate on the surface from the sink. While all the plumbing from the vessel faucet and sink still connect underneath the counter or within the vanity compartment, they appear as two separate pieces to the user.

Vessel Sink Faucet Design

The majority of vessel sink faucets are designed to resemble a single shaft extending from the counter to above the vessel sink. these styles of vessel faucets can often have a somewhat nostalgic appearance to them, resembling the old water pumps often found on farms. However, their modern metals and sleek finishes also lend well towards more modern and minimalistic designs.

While most traditional bathroom faucets have two separate knobs or levers for hot and cold water, the shaft style vessel sink faucets often operate on a single lever system controlling the water temperature. for consumers that prefer separate hot and cold water controls, manufacturers have created models of vessel sink faucets that are available with this option.

In order to compliment the raised style of the sink itself, the vessel sink faucets typically extend between 12 to 18 inches in height as opposed to the 2 to 4 inch height of a traditional faucet. This elevation adds even more so to the unique design and appearance of the sink and faucet combination, increasing its overall artistic appeal.

Vessel sink faucets can also be found in wall mount designs. instead of the faucet plumbing extending down through the counter top, it is run into the wall. these wall mount styles are usually dual levered, with separate hot and cold water controls. Wall mount vessel sink faucets can either be one single piece with the vessel faucet and water controls connected, or they can be designed as three separate components with the water controls mounted into the wall independent from the faucet itself.

Can I Find a Vessel Faucet to Match my Vessel Sink?

One of the most popular aspects of vessel sinks are the materials and colors they are available in. With marble and granite being two of the most popular choices, the color selections are literally endless. in the past, traditional bathroom faucets were limited to gold and chrome colors with occasional offerings in brushed metal finishes. With such a variety of options for the sinks themselves, the selection of vessel sink faucets has expanded tremendously as well.

Vessel faucets are still offered in the traditional chrome and gold finishes, but they are also available in copper, bronze, brass, and nickel. Each of the metals themselves also come in a variety of finish choices. There is literally a metal and finish combination to complement each and every vessel sink. Polished chrome finishes provide an extremely high shine factor and complement black marble and onyx vessel sinks extremely well. Other dark granite and marble shades also work well with brushed gun metal faucets if a more matte finish is preferred. Bone and off white sinks can be accessorized nicely with polished or satin gold faucets. Brushed copper vessel sink faucets have a somewhat antiqued appearance and work well with brown and beige toned marble sinks. Copper vessel sink faucets also contrast beautifully with marble and granite in rich green tones.

Since the faucets themselves can range in design from vintage to ultra modern, this wide selection of materials and finishes allow users to match nearly any design, style and color of vessel sink. Regardless of the faucet, sink, and vanity selected, a vessel sink system is not only a beautiful centerpiece for your bathroom, but a efficient and functional one as well.

A faucet filter will come in two types. The first is a unit that sits on your countertop and attaches directly to your kitchen faucet. it is easily installed without the need for a plumber. you can by one of these units directly from the manufacturer using the technology mentioned for $99 to $125. Other similar units that ARE NOT quite as good can cost up to $420. Again, choose wisely.

The second type of faucet filter is a unit that is installed under your kitchen sink. this type of filter does the exact same thing as the countertop model. The only difference is that it is installed under your kitchen sink. Some people prefer this model because it saves space on your countertop. A good direct from manufacturer price would be $143.98 to $179.98. you could pay more, but don’t. The best faucet water filter doesn’t have to be the most expensive.

Accumulate Acrysil between Rs 125 135: Chugh

Accumulate Acrysil between Rs 125-135, says Ashish Chugh, Investment Analyst and Author of Hidden Gems.

Chugh told CBC-TV18, "Acrysil (India) is a very small company, which has created a niche for itself in the product which it manufactures. This company manufactures granite and quartz kitchen sinks, which no other company manufactures in India. it has got a virtual monopoly in the granite and quartz kitchen sink. The products of this company has sold under Carysil brand name and that brand is basically become a premium brand for kitchen sinks."

He further added, "The fact that it is a premium product and enjoys good brand image is reflected in the margins of the company also the company enjoys operating margins of close to 25%. The company has recently ventured into the manufacture of stainless steel sinks also, which will give volumes to the company. it may be low margin business but volumes are going to come from the stainless steel sink division."

"If you look at the financials of the company, FY10 sales were about Rs 46 crore which were down by about 10%. Profit after tax (PAT) was Rs 6 crore. This company has got a very small equity of Rs 3 crore which means an EPS of close to Rs 20. The heartening fact is that this company enjoys not just the high operating margins but high margins at the net profit margin level also. it enjoys net profit margin of close to 14-15%. it has got healthy financial ratios like return on capital employed and return on net worth is close to 45-50%. it is a smallcap company. The dividend declared this year is 40% which means a dividend yield of close to 3% at the current market price."

"You have a company which has created a niche for itself which enjoys good operating profit margins, has good return on capital employed and net worth and available at a price to earning multiple of 6-7 on earnings in a year, which was not a very good year for the company. going forward, when contribution from the stainless steel kitchen division also starts to come in the earnings are going to improve. Company with 25% operating profit margin is available at a PE multiple of about six-seven, it is a reasonable valuation."

"I would like to put a word of caution, one is liquidity and second is the company has got since about 85 to 90% of the revenues come from exports. The earnings from this quarter maybe dented because of what happened to Europe. The advice will be to utilize this opportunity to accumulate the stock at lower levels rather than getting in at higher levels; Rs 125 to Rs 135 maybe a good range to accumulate this stock for the long time investor."

Disclosure: I have got small investments in Acrysil India.

Anthony McIntyre and Ausubo Press Celebrate Gill Macmillan's ...Almost six weeks after good Friday's publication most booksellers in Ireland, North or South, were telling their customers they were out of stock or that good Friday was not available at all. yet hundreds of copies sat in the publisher's warehouse. According to publisher Aoife Rivera Serrano "McIntyre's controversial critique of the good Friday Agreement and the Irish peace process--not the peace but the process--were behind the blacklisting of good Friday, though many stores in Ireland told me that it was our location in New York City that prevented them from stocking the book." So why is Ausubo Press celebrating?

Two weeks ago Rivera Serrano reached an agreement with John Manning, the Director of Distribution for Gill & Macmillan Ltd. Rivera Serrano explained, "Booksellers from Dublin to Belfast to London can now order good Friday from Irish distributor, Gill & Macmillan. Irish customers who have been clamoring for the book and writing to Ausubo Press asking where they can buy good Friday can now call upon any book shop on the island where fine books are sold."

"Independent publishers should be encouraged by this," the publisher added. "There are still distributors who can use their literary judgement while still keeping an eye on the bottom line. once John Manning read the book he clinched the deal with Ausubo Press."

Robin Gourley, Dublin Stock Manager for Eason, can now fill the requests of Eason store managers trying to obtain the book for customers who come in expecting to find good Friday: The Death of Irish Republicanism on their shelves.

Trevor Proctor from the Eason store on Donegall Place in Belfast told the publisher he had many customers regularly coming in for the book, but he thought the book was not available. Proctor was very pleased when Rivera Serrano phoned him to say she had called stocking boss Robin Gourley to tell him good Friday was being distributed by Gill & Macmillan.

The first cartons of books arrived at the Gill & Macmillan Dublin warehouse on 14 October 2008. The distributor is ready to fulfill orders from anywhere in Ireland and the United Kingdom.

Booksellers interested in stocking good Friday: The Death of Irish Republicanism should call +353 1 500 9500, fax +353 1 500 9599, or write to sales @ gillmacmillan.ie .

For customers who want their copy autographed by Mr. McIntyre they can do so from 6 to 8 pm at the Linen Hall celebration on 5 November. Anyone planning to attend the event should rsvp to publicity @ ausubopress.com before 29 October.

Ausubo Press is an independent multicultural publishing company. it is one of several publishers in the United States producing books in more than 2 languages. In addition to Spanish and English, their first Irish title will be published next year. Ausubo Press is playing a small role in raising global consciousness about the need to protect any culture's greatest treasure: their language.

How long do bathroom/kitchen trends last without looking dated?I'm about to remodel bathroom and kitchen and I like the granite counters, stainless steel look, the new bathroom modern sinks and furniture. I also love the mosaic tile trend. how long do you think these updates will last without looking dated? Any suggestions to avoid looking dated too soon.

what is the type of utility faucet whose pipes extend into the wall?I had a plumber look at it before but I am having trouble remembering what the exact term was. It was something like base mount, but I couldn't find it online. It is a utility sink and both the hot and cold water pipes run directly into the wall. It is leaking and needs to be replaced, but I want to do some research online to see if the plumber is giving me a reasonable quote.

A new faucet can perk up the look - and the performance - of your kitchen with relatively little fuss. Before you start browsing in earnest, consider a few key points; knowing your needs will help you sort through the dozens of models you'll find in plumbing showrooms and home centers.

1. FACTS AND FEATURES
Measuring up.
If you have an extra-wide sink or one with multiple bowls, make sure the spout is long enough - at least 12 to 14 inches - to extend well into the basins. High-arc or gooseneck designs accommodate tall items like pots, pitchers and vases best.

Handles with care. In the kitchen, knob-style handles aren't very practical because it's difficult to grip them when your hands are greasy or soapy. Both single-levers and blade-handled controls, though, can be operated with the flick of a wrist. New to the residential market are handle-less faucets that are turned on and off by virtue of a light tap anywhere on the spout.

Spray time. Sprayers - invaluable for rinsing delicate salad greens and other veggies - can be stand-alone accessories or an integrated feature in pull-out faucets. with the latter, check how easily and securely the spray head "docks" with the body of the faucet. Some models have a magnetic closure that facilitates a snug coupling. also, make sure you're comfortable with the position of the sprayer button. try it out using your natural grasping movement to ensure there's no awkward fingering required.

All in the family. If there's more than one sink in your kitchen, make sure you select a main faucet that's also available in a prep or bar-sink size. Otherwise, you'll end up with a mismatched design.

Inner workings. There's more to faucets than just shiny good looks. Ceramic disks are the most durable and reliable of the different valve assemblies.

2. WHAT YOU'LL PAY
Prices for a basic, name-brand faucet begin around $150. At that point, you're likely looking at a deck-mounted, low-arc model in either a polished or brushed chrome finish. two knob-style handles are the norm, but some single lever-handles can be found. Style-wise, transitional looks dominate.

Options increase in the $250-$500 range. Pull-out designs that toggle between a spray and a stream are plentiful (check that the hose is stainless steel), and finishes become more fashion-conscious; look for oil-rubbed bronze and nickel colors. Special coatings that protect the finish from scratches, spotting and discoloration are widely offered. Side-sprays and soap or lotion dispensers are popular accessories.

Above $500, high-arc spouts are the rule, and lines are crisply contemporary or ornately detailed; some faucets may even be hand-polished. Premium faucets can be crafted of solid stainless steel. Technological extras - such as built-in water filters or hands-free operation - are found in this category.

Paper Recycling is Bad for Your Butt AND The World

So there I was, on the toilet at work. We have a fine restroom, with beautiful stainless steel sinks, track lighting and jazz music piped in from above. It’s really nice. when I reached over for some toilet paper, I found that this company, like so many others, uses that horrible recycled paper that’s less than easy on the buttocks.
This brought to mind something I’ve known for a long time. Paper recycling is bad. It’s not just bad for your butt, when you look at the toilet paper and see bits of cardboard stuck in the white sheets. It’s not all about the substandard paper you’re running through your printer. Paper recycling is bad for the economy, and bad for the environment.
Most people believe what they’ve been told. They believe that recycling paper is a good thing. Stacking up those newspapers and taking them to the recycling center is supposed to help society by reducing waste, saving trees, and making a more economical product in the end. The problem is, it really does none of that.
Paper comes from trees. Trees are good. That’s hard to dispute. I like trees. Most paper, though, doesn’t come from the majestic oaks and redwoods. you won’t see clearcutting of virgin timber to make greeting cards. Paper is generally made from pulpwood. Pulp comes from softer wood trees like the pine. These trees grow relatively quickly. Longleaf pines grow quickly and easily enough that they are actually farmed. Land is set aside for the growing of pine trees. These trees grow, are cut down for goods, and then more are grown in their place. Trees, like so many of our resources, are renewable.
So, if recycling paper doesn’t actually save the mighty oaks, or the old-grown forests, it must at least be more economical, right? Unfortunately, that’s not so. Paper from trees is a relatively simple process. Recycling adds more steps. Paper must be collected, cleaned, shredded and treated chemically before it can then be turned into a paper that is generally of lesser quality than the original whence it came. The treatment of paper to be turned into more paper uses more chemical processing than the original paper did, and you KNOW that can’t be good for the environment. In the end, the recycled paper simply costs more than paper directly from wood pulp. The only reason the end cost is lower to the consumer is because the government subsidizes its production, passing the additional costs on to the taxpayer
So, recycled paper costs more to produce, causes higher tax rates, increases chemical pollution, and doesn’t save old growth forests. Does it at least help in controlling so-called “greenhouse gasses” to leave trees standing instead of chopping them down? no, it doesn’t.
You see, trees grow and they die. when a tree grows, it turns a load of carbon dioxide into oxygen. Trees aren’t the best at this job, but they aren’t slouches when it comes to oxygen production. after a while, though, the tree reaches a point where it reaches a balance. The cast off leaves or needles fall and begin to decay. This decay process produces carbon dioxide. The amount of carbon dioxide used up by the tree eventually reaches parity with that being thrown off by decaying matter. when the tree dies, the balance shifts completely toward carbon dioxide production. If, however, the tree is turned into other products, the cycle changes.
One of the major complaints about landfills is that the bio-matter in them doesn’t have the chance to break down and decay. If we simply buried the old paper in landfills, then it wouldn’t decay either. This would result in less carbon dioxide being produced. I argue that the BEST place for old paper is at the bottom of a landfill.
Next time you buy a pack of recycled printer paper or toilet paper, think about the damage you’re doing to the environment and the economy. when I’m in that beautiful bathroom at work, I’m just thinking about the damage that recycled paper is doing to my butt.

All the answers to “please explain how trees are renewable” and why the cutting of trees and the logging industry is actually NOT bad can be found there. It’s a long essay, but read on, and pay attention to page 12 and on. Most deforestation does NOT come from logging or the cutting of trees for paper. Nay, but it comes from FARMING. Yeah, that’s right. For all you vegetarians out there, the veggies that you all love and eat is grown on a farm where they had to chop down trees and STOP their growth to plant all the cabbages and beets that you so love to eat. Yeah, meat comes from farms like this too, but the point is, the mere fact that we all have to LIVE and eat (whether it be vegetable or meat), is one of the biggest causes of deforestation.
But read for yourself
greenspirit.com/trees_answer.cfm
Oh yeah, it’s written by Patrick Moore, FORMER president and cofounder of GREENPEACE.

A couple points for Steve.
#1 – sometimes I quote my sources, and sometimes I don’t. I’ve read a lot on recycling, from across the spectrum. some in support, and some in reluctant opposition. Had my readings been the impetus behind my writing, I would have quoted them. The driving force behind my post, though, was the low quality of recycled products that I am exposed to on a daily basis. that particular day it was toilet paper, and it was absolutely horrible.
I’m working at a new location, now. The recycled toilet paper isn’t much better than before, but the recycled hand-drying towels are even worse.
#2 – If recycling wasn’t inefficient enough as it is, the argument about landfill use is an even weaker one. We are not running out of landfill space. Even if we decided to dig one big hole for all the trash our country produces, it would be manageable. one hole, 225 feet deep and 10 miles on each side would meet our needs, not for a year, but for more than a century. I say we dig it in Nevada.
You seem to be a bit angry over all of this. Why not calm down, grab a glass of water, and consider that there might be more to the story than what you see. I wrote an article about bad paper causing me a sore butt. Don’t take it so seriously.
Being unhappy and easy to anger isn’t healthy. go have fun.
