Does Your Bathroom Have A Bath In It?
Does Your Bathroom have a Bath In it?
Before we talk about a bathroom sink we need to clear up what a bathroom is. In the US we tend to think of a bathroom as “a room with a lavatory”. however in a lot of countries it is, as the name suggests, a room with a bath.
When we think about designing a bathroom I suppose the first thing that most of us put see in the bathroom remodeling pictures is a bath and that is not al all surprising as that is the meaning of the word. Nowadays however a number of people are not even putting a bath but the bathtub has been replaced by a shower instead. of course, a lot of people do include both. I think that the amount of water used by a normal shower is less than that used in an average bath. maybe that is a part of the reason why. it could also lead to a change of meaning to “a room to bathe in”
The second thing is a toilet and to accompany that must be a wash basin. these two should always be fitted together because, as we all know, it is very important to always wash your hands after using the lavatory. In olden days and still in Europe sometimes there was a bidet in every bathroom. This is a bit like a hand basin but is for sitting in to clean the parts you are sitting on after visiting the toilet.
The wash basin in a bathroom is often in the form of a wall hung bathroom sink. This will allow for the area beneath the unit to be used as storage which is not possible if the sink unit goes all the way to the floor.
One very popular thing is to have a master bedroom with a bathroom leading off of it. This is called an en-suite bathroom and is intended to be used by the occupants of that room only. This would normally be the couple that lived in the house or, if in a hotel or similar, the people using that room.
Cleanliness has been an important part of human culture almost for ever but the bathtub as we know it today has only been around for a few hundred years. In olden times there used to be a great use of a communal bathing area. This could well serve a whole village or township. In fact it used to be a focal point of village life. How times change. the thought of a communal bath is abhorrent to all except sports players.
You can get a hand wash basin in many different shapes, sizes and colors although they used to always be white. They are normally made of vitreous china. All the leading bathroom fitting manufacturers will have one. If the room in your bathroom is limited it is often popular to use a corner sink which can fit nicely in between the other units.
With the way that the economy is today I have had to become the money advice expert for our family and would like to share some ideas that I have found.
Replacing sink faucets can easily be done yourself, it is especially easy if connected to a wall mount sink.

Hi. I have searched far and wide but still can't seem to find exactly what I want. I would like an under sink water filter. It must fit in a 20" high cabinet. It must be full flow rate or at least not severely retard the flow of water as it will be used as a regular cold tap. It must be fitted in line with the cold water service. It must not require me to bore a hole in my counter top, I don't want a separate faucet next to my sink. It must meet NSF standards 42 and 53. Activated carbon is fine as reverse osmosis is overkill. thanks!
We have a basic bathroom on our second floor that we'd like to convert the vanity to a double vanity. It's about 60 inches long. We plan on removing the existing vanity ourselves, so the plumber will need to open up the wall and do his thing. What kind of cost are we looking at?
we tried to turn on garden faucet last night and no water came out so we insulated over the faucet. Now there is frozen water under the faucet---could it be a pipe burst or just thawed water that dripped out?
Kitchen is one room where you not only spend a lot of your time but also do the most important part of your routine i.e. cooking and eating. While we buy latest gadgets and beautiful crockery of our kitchen, more often than not, kitchen sinks are relegated to the background. However, considering the time we spend working on it, kitchen sinks should be the best we could afford. a little thought and research can help you find a sink that will not only make you life easy but also last you a lifetime.
I've heard that stanless steel sinks are difficult to keep clean. is there any truth to this?
