Does Your Bathroom have a Bath In it?

Before we talk about a bathroom sink we need to clear up what a bathroom is. In the US we tend to think of a bathroom as “a room with a lavatory”. however in a lot of countries it is, as the name suggests, a room with a bath.

When we think about designing a bathroom I suppose the first thing that most of us put see in the bathroom remodeling pictures is a bath and that is not al all surprising as that is the meaning of the word. Nowadays however a number of people are not even putting a bath but the bathtub has been replaced by a shower instead. of course, a lot of people do include both. I think that the amount of water used by a normal shower is less than that used in an average bath. maybe that is a part of the reason why. it could also lead to a change of meaning to “a room to bathe in”

The second thing is a toilet and to accompany that must be a wash basin. these two should always be fitted together because, as we all know, it is very important to always wash your hands after using the lavatory. In olden days and still in Europe sometimes there was a bidet in every bathroom. This is a bit like a hand basin but is for sitting in to clean the parts you are sitting on after visiting the toilet.

The wash basin in a bathroom is often in the form of a wall hung bathroom sink. This will allow for the area beneath the unit to be used as storage which is not possible if the sink unit goes all the way to the floor.

One very popular thing is to have a master bedroom with a bathroom leading off of it. This is called an en-suite bathroom and is intended to be used by the occupants of that room only. This would normally be the couple that lived in the house or, if in a hotel or similar, the people using that room.

Cleanliness has been an important part of human culture almost for ever but the bathtub as we know it today has only been around for a few hundred years. In olden times there used to be a great use of a communal bathing area. This could well serve a whole village or township. In fact it used to be a focal point of village life. How times change. the thought of a communal bath is abhorrent to all except sports players.

You can get a hand wash basin in many different shapes, sizes and colors although they used to always be white. They are normally made of vitreous china. All the leading bathroom fitting manufacturers will have one. If the room in your bathroom is limited it is often popular to use a corner sink which can fit nicely in between the other units.

With the way that the economy is today I have had to become the money advice expert for our family and would like to share some ideas that I have found.

Replacing sink faucets can easily be done yourself, it is especially easy if connected to a wall mount sink.

Water filter for kitchen?

1288077742 Water filter for kitchen?Hi. I have searched far and wide but still can't seem to find exactly what I want. I would like an under sink water filter. It must fit in a 20" high cabinet. It must be full flow rate or at least not severely retard the flow of water as it will be used as a regular cold tap. It must be fitted in line with the cold water service. It must not require me to bore a hole in my counter top, I don't want a separate faucet next to my sink. It must meet NSF standards 42 and 53. Activated carbon is fine as reverse osmosis is overkill. thanks!

1286655738 Teen Talk: Mom sinks into depression after divorce

Q: my parents got divorced three years ago after my dad decided he didn't want to stay married anymore. since then, my mom has let our house become a disaster. She doesn't throw anything away; garbage piles up in our house.

She buys stuff off TV all the time. our house is running over with stuff -- garbage, food and clothes all over the floor in her bedroom and bathroom.

She never cooks anymore. I try to keep the house decent, but no one else helps.

I don't know what to say to help my mom. She has put on a ton of weight and doesn't seem to care about herself. On the weekends, there are times she won't get out of bed until 2 p.m.

What do I say to get my mom back to being a mom? my dad has moved out of state and we only see him two or three times a year. Plus, I don't want to tell him, in case he tries to take us away from my mom. -- H.K.

A: your mom sounds depressed. Depression can be all-consuming if left untreated. your mom is a good example of how this can happen. After your dad left, she has been unable to function at home, to do the day-to-day things to keep your family and your home running efficiently.

Your mom sounds like she also might be struggling with hoarding issues. Hoarding is an obsessive-compulsive disorder that means she is unable to throw things away. Compulsive hoarders can become incapacitated and disabled.

Your mom needs help that goes beyond what you can do. She needs to be evaluated

by a mental health professional and treated for the depression as well as to be assessed for possible OCD.

Is there anyone your mom will listen to? Can you talk with your school counselor about what your house is like and how you are concerned about your mom? someone besides you needs to have a heart-to-heart conversation with your mom about her lifestyle and how it is affecting her kids.

If you feel you have no one, consider talking with your dad. perhaps he knows someone connected to your mom -- an old friend or relative, for example -- who can intervene and get her the help she needs.

Though it is scary to involve him, you might be left with no other option than to share with him what is going on so he can be sure you are being treated and cared for the way you should be.
