My landlord intends to sue me for water damage. Am I liable?About halfway through my lease I sent my landlord an email letting her know that all the faucets leak and the bathroom sink does not drain (it takes hours). She dispatched a plumber and a few days later sent me an email saying that he had fixed everything. Well I woke up this morning to find that the bathroom faucet had not been completely shut off, and the sink was NOT fixed, and water had overflown into the bathroom. I mopped up the water I saw with towels and left for work. I then received a flurry of emails from my landlord telling me there was massive water damage to the unit below me and that I had caused it and she was going to hold me responsible and she thought I did it on purpose. if I notified her of the problem, she sent a plumber, and then emails me and tells me it's fixed, it seems to me the damage is either due to her negligence or the plumbers. obviously me not shutting off the faucet completely wouldn't have caused any damage had her sink not been faulty. Am I liable?
I'd say less than a month has passed between when the plumber came but the fact is I actually don't stay at the property very often. I recently took a job on the other side of the metroplex and I have been staying with family closer to work. She does plan to take me to small claims but since I do have emails I told her to go for it. She also wants me to move out immediately, which I'm also okay with as long as she doesn't try to make me pay out the remainder of my lease. Should I move my stuff out? what should I do besides wait for a subpoena?
In response to the landlord of 13 years: actually when the landlords son first showed me the unit prior to me moving in, he pointed out that the sink did in fact drain very slowly and said that he would fix it shortly (among other things he promised to fix) and the problem gradually got worse to the point where the sink was unusable. I poured draino down it and it solved the problem for a short amount of time, but I would bet money that the plumbers invoice does not list that sink. I also mentioned that I'm in the unit once a week at most, and although it's been over a week since the plumber was in, this was the first time I have used the sink. I'm not blaming the plumber, I'd bet money she didn't even have him look at it. so no, I didn't cause the clog, and while I'll gladly pay for the water itself, the damage is due her not addressing an issue that she was well aware of before I came around. and this is all recorded via email.

1285312929 How do I remove my bathroom sink faucet fixture?I have a single handle bathroom faucet fixture and it is dripping. From what I have read I need to replace the washer. The trouble is, I have no clue how to even remove the faucet. thanks.

How do I remove my bathroom sink faucet fixture?

1282807336 Apartment Water Damage, Long but Please Read and Advise?I am 21 and live in a large house that was transformed into 4 apartments. mine is not up to code at all and that hasn't ever really bothered me because I am in school and its cheap. when I moved in the landlord said there was a lot of previous water damage due the woman before me who hadn't found a way to not get water on the floor when she showered.

This might sound like an easy task, but I currently have FIVE shower curtains to accomplish this because my bathroom isn't supposed to be a bathroom and the water pipes are extended up through the floor and wall and do not reach the tub. So there is clearly water damage to the point that the linoleum floor is bubbled up and no longer has any sealant or cocking into the wall.

The landlord is aware of this and said, this is why his rent is cheap, he is trying to sell the building and doesn't care about it. my bathroom faucet also leaks, not a ton, but at pretty constant dribble.

I work in four hour shifts, the other night while I was gone something fell into my sink and blocked the drain. the leaking faucet dribbled and overflowed. I came home to a small puddle under the sick, mopped it up and didn't think anything of it.

Then my downstairs neighbor knocked and asked if I had any problems because her child's room, under my bathroom, ceiling has a ton of water damage. I feel dumb now but it didn't occur to me that my puddle caused this, so I said I had a puddle earlier but it was all cleaned up, nothing seemed to be leaking, and she could come and check anything she needed to. She said thanks but no and she was going to keep calling the landlord and hope he picked up before Monday.

Afterwards I started freaking out, Did my leak cause this? If so then would I be financially responsible? my dad said since I did nothing this isn't my fault and to cooperate if anyone needs my apartment but to stay out of this. He also said there was a ton of water damage before I moved in and the landlord knows this and admitted it candidly in front of witnesses.

Question: Am I responsible?

How much water does it take to cause this to happen?

If it happened due to previous water damage is it still all my fault?

Would getting renters insurance right now help at all since so far there are no issues in my apartment and my landlord hasn't called or anything?

My dad is a contractor and my uncle is a landlord and both said that since my bathroom isn't up to code and I didn't do anything it is not my fault?

Please give advice? I honestly dont' want to cheat anyone, but my landlord isn't a really good landlord by choice so if it was up to code this never would have happened anyway? I feel so anxious and guilty, I don't want like a 3,000 dollar bill or anything :0

Thank you to any who read through!
The entire bathroom slants down to one side, so any water that did fall over the edge of the sink was puddled up against the wall and edge or linoleum so it probably did absorb right down through icon sad Apartment Water Damage, Long but Please Read and Advise?

I feel so dumb even though I didn't physically do anything to cause it.

If it was up to code there would have been a little drain hole near the top of the sink to prevent things like this from happening and the floor would have been in better condition so that all the water wasn't pushed to one place and was adequately sealed my dad said. If that matters at all.
I can't just leave I have a lease that wont' be up until august.
