1304580137 My kitten is having problems licking from the water bowl?I have 3 spots for my kitten to drink water. I have only had her 2 weeks and she's 14 weeks old. I put her water in a 1 cup glass bowl (pampered chef glass custard like bowl). I also have it in the bathroom sink, just about 1 inch deep. I also have a water container for the other 3 cats where it's a reserve that holds water for about 4 or 5 days at a time. her problem when she tries to "drink" is she dunks her nose in it, and it discourages her from licking it now. I thought between the 3 different set ups and different angles for her, one might work for her. now she only drinks from the bathroom sink with her paw. She dips her paw and then licks it. my 7 mo old kitten will lick it from the bathroom sink right in front of her and she just looks at him and continues dipping and licking her paw. I've also tried turning on the bathroom sink faucet at a very slow stream, as my 7 mo old kitten loves licking it this way, and she won't lick it that way either. my question is: Can she actually get enough water into her system thru licking her paw the way she does, even as she gets older? She does the dipping and licking paw for about 3 or 4 minutes at a time. does anyone give their kitten water with something like a hamster water feeder? would that work. She got tired of getting the water up her nose and gave up licking the normal way.

Does the brand of the pedestal sink base have to match the actual sink bowl brand? Can you mix and match? We bought a Duravit sink (the 1930's series) for a great price, but the pedestal bases are very expensive. Can we find a standard pedestal base that will fit any sink?

5 Options for Bathroom Vessel Sinks | DoItYourself.com

Some of the most popular options for your bathroom are bathrooms vessel sinks. These sinks are set on a countertop or even furniture like vanity. the faucets are separate from the sink and mounted through the countertop or to the wall above the sink. the drainage system goes in the bottom of the sink and through to the plumbing underneath. Any exposed plumbing is likely to be decorative and meant to be seen. the water flows from the faucet into the vessel. Some of the faucets create a waterfall effect. There are unlimited options for the material of the sink and the shapes they come in. Instead of a white sink you can have an art piece made of materials like pottery, stone, glass or even wood. you can have a piece of art in the bathroom for a reasonable price.

Stone

A stone sink can be made in any conceivable shape from a simple bowl to a flat rectangle with a groove around the edge for channeling water. the common stone used are granite, marble, travertine, limestone and onyx. the most fanciful of the stone sink are made from precious stones like jasper, turquoise and amber. These are often made in a natural free-form style.

Copper

The moldability of copper allows it to be formed into endless shapes and forms. the finishes can be clear to keep the bright copper shine or a darker patina to give it an aged look. the surface can be embossed or hammered offering even more decorative options.

Glass

Many glass sinks are a simple bowl shape and focus is the incredible range of colors and frosted or opaque finishes. you can also get rounded squares, ovals and even free-form art glass.

Wood

Wood sinks are hand crafted out of fine hardwoods. They are sanded, smooth and finished with a water proof varnish. the woods typically used are teak, oak and rosewood. Some shapes are a simple bowl, but there are also more Zen-like forms available. more natural forms can bring the outdoors into your bathroom.

Porcelain

This is one of the most affordable options for a vessel sink. although porcelain is a traditional material for sinks the vessel sinks come in hundreds of shapes. Most are white or black. the most decorative are decorated like fine china or glazed to resemble artisan pottery.

Factors to Consider

When choosing a vessel sink there are several things to consider. What kind of upkeep are you willing to do? Glass sinks are beautiful, but they are easily smudge and may show water marks. These might be a good option for a sink that is not used often such as a guest bathroom. even though stone sinks are durable you must be careful not to use chemicals that will harm the surface. the manufacturer will normally give you cleaning instructions if this is the case. Porcelain sinks are the easier to maintain.

Another consideration is the space that you have. Vessel sinks take up more room that an inset sink so be sure you have enough clearance for the bowl and the faucets and that it won’t make your bathroom seem crowded.

Everything to know about the kitchen sink

1. Today most people prefer a large single bowl to the old equal-size double bowl sink, which pre-dated the dishwasher and was used for washing and rinsing.

2. Undermount is the choice for installation today, since most new counter tops are stone, granite or other solid surface materials.

3. the old bowl depth of 7 inches is giving way to 8, 10 or even 12 inches. Bottom grids and other accessories are available for most sinks.

4. the trend is away from the traditional enameled cast iron to stainless steel for easier maintenance and installation.

5. Farmhouse sinks with apron fronts, mostly in fireclay -- which is a harder type of porcelain, resistant to stains and scratches -- are increasing in popularity.

6. New shapes are being introduced such as the trough sink and river sink and the popular bowl and a half. the location of the smaller bowl can be reversed as needed.

7. the gauge has gone from 20 to 18 to 16 -- the lower the number the thicker and harder the steel -- approaching

commercial strength.

8. Flush mount offers the newest look. Neither a drop-in or undermount, there is a 1.25 mm rim virtually level with the counter top.

9. Bar sinks offer a chance for variety. Many have painted or embossed designs. Materials range from stainless steel to nickel, brass, copper and bronze.

10. Today's sinks offers more freedom of faucet installation, as there are no existing holes to work around.

Drop-in sinks with a faucet area are still available but are being phased out by most
