What’s the trick to unclogging a drain in a double vanity sink?

Our sink is CLOGGED in our double vanity bathroom. we put the snake through the pipes under one sink & it comes out the other side. It's hard to divert the snake through the "Y" where the sinks divide to where the clog is? any tips?
